DINE LBC is right around the corner, and we’ve got our top 10 picks for the week (in no particular order)! So it’s finally time to bite-the-bullet and check out that place you’ve been “meaning to try forever.”


Sura Korean BBQ & Tofu House

Husband and wife team, Brandon & Claire Sugano, run one of Long Beach’s only Korean restaurants. They’ve stayed true to Claire’s roots by dishing out traditional Korean fare and Tofu Stews, while still managing to modernize their menu with KBBQ tacos and kimchi burritos. If you’re craving bold flavors and pitchers of Hite, head to Sura!


Los Compadres

Any Long Beach local will rush to recommend Los Compadres as one of their go-to Mexican spots for homemade corn tortillas and perfect margaritas! Be prepared to wait…but it’s worth it.


Michael’s on Naples

Chef Eric Samaniego is plating up some of Long Beach’s BEST Italian food. While you can’t go wrong with any of the Michael’s restaurant group choices…we’ve chosen Michael’s on Naples for the ambiance, as much as the food! Be sure to snag a spot on their new-ish rooftop. If you’re feeling even fancier, check out Chianina’s DINE LBC menu…. it’s a steal.



Let Chef Philip Pretty take you on hyper-local tour of the city. His plates are as pretty (pun intended) as they taste. You also know the food is being sustainably sourced and locally grown, which leaves your conscience clear and comes through in the flavor of each dish. Retro Row’s gem is by far one of our favorites. Don’t let this opportunity pass you by.


Honduras Kitchen

Never had Honduran cuisine? Now’s your chance. The Larios family opened Honduras Kitchen in 1992, and thankfully, they’ve been going strong ever since. Their recipes have been passed down from generation to generation, and the food speaks for itself. Don’t leave without trying the plantains and their traditional baleadas.


Cesar’s Bistro

EMPANADAS EMPANADAS EMPANADAS. Oh…did we mention they have EMPANADAS??? That should really be enough to get you through the door. But if it’s not…just take a look at this bomb a** menu. Pretty sure we’re going with the Lomo Saltado. Just sayin’.


Rice & Shine

If you’ve never had Filipino food…it’s time. But don’t let your first experience be with anyone but Chef AC Boral. Rice & Shine is AC’s modern Filipino Pop-Up Brunch. Reserve your seats for Aug 5th & 6th for 8 courses of mind-blowing food. If you do ANYTHING next weekend….let it be Rice & Shine.


Romeo Chocolates

Ohhhh Romeo (yes, that’s his name). We’re so happy you’re open. And we couldn’t be happier that he’s part of DINE LBC this year! All of Romeo’s chocolate is fair trade and of the highest quality. Make sure you pop in to Romeo Chocolates for a nice after dinner truffle with your favorite glass of wine. It’s one sexy space…and the chocolate is beyond this world. Especially the Belgian sipping chocolate (think:melted chocolate bar).



The long-awaited opening of ROE has proven to be worth the wait. Chef, Art Gonzalez (of Panxa), knows his seafood. At $45/person for the FRESHEST fish in town…you really can’t go wrong.
