The Best Places for Holiday Pies in Long Beach

Posted on November 21, 2017 | By Layla Ali-Ahmad

‘Tis the season for pie! Lattice, graham cracker, Oreo, crumble….DOESN’T MATTER! We’re in. Whether you’re looking for a crowd-pleasing-dessert-table treat, or just in the market for a little slice of the holidays, we’ve got a list of the best shops in town.

Here they are (in no particular order):

The Pie Bar

Downtown’s one-stop-pie-shop is, no doubt, a city favorite. Get your fix of whole pies, pie-by-the-slice, pies in-a-jar, pie-shots, pot pies, Shepherd’s pie, cobblers, lemon bars, hand pies, and take-and-bake pies. Β Want it served “Γ  la Mode,” Β with a scoop of Whiskey Vanilla from the Long Beach Creamery? You got it. Just be sure to get your orders in soon. Because this is their JAM. There’s a reason we put them on our food tour!

Saints and Sinners Bakeshop

The newest shop on the Downtown block is sure to give your favorite bakery a run for their money. If you can think of a job in the restaurant industry, Traci’s done it. She’s a perfectionist in taste and design, and she’s currently baking up a killer Sweet Potato Pie. If you’re looking for something a little different, her Pumpkin Swirl Cheesecake (debatably a pie), will make you want to spring for dessert first.

Sweet & Saucy Shop

Looking for an assortment of mini pies and treats for your holiday gathering? Look no further than Sweet & Saucy! Visit their Bixby Knolls location, and just TRY to walk out of the shop with less than a dozen desserts. We dare you.

Scratch Baked Goods

This Belmont Heights gem is a neighborhood favorite. The name says it all. Everything is made in house, and you can taste it. Owner, Deborah Hirt, started her love affair with baking at the ripe-old-age of 8, with her first Suzy Homemaker Oven. After ordering your pie, be sure to snag a Doughnut Muffin for good measure. Your stomach will thank you.

Wide Eyes Open Palms

WeOp began as a Farmer’s Market staple, and has turned the most unassuming space into their charming brick-and-mortar storefront. Don’t be fooled by the size of the place. Their baked goods are what got them here…and we’re thinking they’re going to last for a long, long time.

Jongewaard’s Bake-N-Broil

If you’ve lived in this city long enough, you’ve heard of the legendary Bake-N-Broil. Established in 1965, this institution cranks out over 50 different pie varieties. Order before 2pm for next-day pickup!

Salud Juice

Shoutout to the vegan, raw, and gluten free crowd! Salud has just the pie for you. Because everyone deserves some pie in their life.
